Foreign Investment in RMB Funds: Strategy and Policy Update

At the beginning of 2011, the Financial Services Office of Shanghai issued The Implementation Measures of Pilot Projects on Foreign Equity Investment. Other large cities like Beijing are currently at work on their own versions of the Implementation Measures. It appears these cities' regulatory efforts will tend to override the provincial and local governments' policies on optimizing foreign capital investments in RMB funds.

November 26, 2010, Beijing, China - China Venture Capital Association officially announced today to rename itself as China Venture Capital and Private Equity Association.

VC/PE firms Optimistic about Coming Year

—— CVCA Released its China VC/PE Industry Survey Report 2010

December 15th, 2010 - Beijing, China – China Venture Capital and Private Equity Association ("CVCA") released its China VC/PE Industry Survey Report 2010, which is based on CVCA's recent survey among its members and the industry. Frances Huang, the President of CVCA, indicates that China VC/PE industry is in a rapid growth period. The VC/PE community is satisfied with the industry's growth for 2010 and optimistic about development in 2011.

CVCA has cooperated with O'Melveny & Myers to send a consultation paper to SEC

The U.S. SEC has published proposed draft rules for public consultation with implementing the Dodd-Frank Act regarding the registration of investment advisers of private equity funds. The proposed rules will have a significant impact for many China-based mangers that are required to register as a U.S investment advisors and to take compliance obligations. CVCA has cooperated with O'Melveny & Myers to send a consultation paper to SEC regarding the registration of investment advisers of private equity funds.

LIU Lefei, Chairman and CEO of CITIC Private Equity Funds, Joins the CVCA Board as a Governor

In November 2010, China Venture Capital and Private Equity Association ("CVCA") had the annual Board Governor election according to its statute. TIAN Suning, the Chairman of CBC Capital, retired from the board. The CVCA Board has unanimously approved the appointment of Lefei LIU, the Chairman and CEO of CITIC Private Equity Funds, as a new governor of the board. This action has been taken in full accordance with the statute of CVCA.
