CVCA Academy Management Series - Fund Valuation

As part of its management series, CVCA conducted a training course of fund valuation on April 26, 2013 in Beijing. Over 40 CVCA members and professionals from non-member companies participated in the training.

 

Rebecca Xu, Co-founder & Managing Director of Asia Alternative, kicked off the training with a presentation about how LPs evaluate GPs. Rebecca shared her expectations, thoughts, and experience from the perspective of investors on LP's dream GP, performance and benchmarking, fiduciary duty and terms, and LP service best practice. PwC partners Nova Chen and Qing Ni provided a detailed look into the valuation methods, the factors affecting the fair value of LP's interests, and similarities and differences of valuation between RMB funds and USD funds, etc. Their presentations were followed by a Q & A session with the audience.

Policy Update


CIRC Issued a Notice Specifying the Requirements on Investments in Insurance Companies by Limited Partnership PE Funds


On April 24, China Insurance Regulatory Commission (CIRC) released the Notice on Regulating the Investments in Insurance Companies by Limited Partnership PE Funds which clearly specifies the requirements for limited partnership PE funds to invest in insurers and makes it possible for eligible PE funds to make investments in insurance companies. 


SAFE Simplifies Rules on Foreign Direct Investment


The State Administration of Foreign Exchange, or SAFE, China's foreign exchange regulator, issued new regulations effective on 13 May on the administration of funds for FDI by overseas investors.

CVCA Industry Policy Committee (IPC) - the First Meeting in 2013

In order to study the laws and regulations pertaining to the VC/PE sector; support the formulation of government policies through sound research and study; enhance exchanges and communications with policy-making and government regulatory authorities; and create an enabling policy and legal environment for the sustainable development of VC/PE, CVCA Industry Policy Committee (IPC) successfully held the first meeting this year on April 24th, 2013.

 

Mr. Sing Wang, the Co-Chairman, TPG of Greater China, Head of TPG Growth North Asia, TPG Partner and IPC Chairman, chaired the meeting. Nearly 30 senior executives from 22 firms attended the meeting. The attendees are from famous foreign and domestic VC/PE firms including: TPG, KKR, CITIC Capital, Warburg Pincus, Legend Capital, Lunar Capital, etc.
