Series II: How To Be an Effective Board Member

Chinese venture capital industry has enjoyed significant growth in the last few years, many Chinese enterprises become very successful because of the help from venture capital and many talented people are attracted to this industry with rich investment and management experiences. For the past few years, CVCA has organized various activities for the benefit of our member firms. CVCA has 10 governors who all are the leaders in this industry and committed to share their experiences on investment and management to CVCA and YVCC members. The second one will be conducted by Mr. Duane Kuang in May, and we especially invite representatives from some VC invested companies to join the discussion.

Mr. Duane Kuang is a founding partner of Qiming Venture Partners. Duane has over 20 years of IT industry operational and investment experience. Prior to founding Qiming, Duane was the Director of Intel Capital China. During his 6 year tenure at Intel Capital, Duane was in charge of all of Intel Capital's investment activities in China. Prior to Intel Capital, Duane spent over 5 years at Cisco Systems in China, holding various senior management positions in the sales and marketing organizations. Duane was instrumental in building up Cisco's presence in Southern China and later in the telecom and service provider sector.


Before returning to China in 1994, Duane had a successful engineering and management career in both startup and large global companies in Silicon Valley. Duane started his career in 1988 as a software engineer at 3Com Corporation, and 3 years later joined Kalpana Inc, a Silicon Valley startup company later acquired by Cisco as an engineering manager. Duane was born in China and educated in America. He holds an MBA degree from the University of California at Berkeley and a Master's degree in Computer Science from Stanford University.


Duane currently serves on the board of ChinaCache, 2DuNet, Fangtek, GammaStar, Guokang and Ether.
