CVCA Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2013 was held in Shenzhen on November 28. Around 200 PE/VC professionals and entrepreneurs attended the event.

John ZHAO, CVCA Chairman, Founder and CEO of Hony Capital, delivered the welcome speech. Bin SHENG, Deputy Secretary General of Shenzhen Municipality, and ZhiJiang TANG, Deputy Director General of Authority of Qianhai SZ-HK Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone introduced the development and opportunities of equity investment industry in Shenzhen city and Qianhai cooperation zone to the audience. Xiaojia YANG, Chairperson of National Equities Exchange and Quotations, made a keynote speech on the new third board.

The on-site e-polling survey showed the professionals' confidence and interests in China's market in 2014. On the basis of the survey results, panelists and the participants made in-depth discussions in three dialogue sessions.

John ZHAO moderated the dialogue I. Fred HU, Chairman and founder of Primavera Capital Group, John QU, General Manager of Assets Management Dept. of China Reinsurance, Biao XING, Deputy Director of Equity Capital Department, National Council for Social Security Fund, and Yichen ZHANG, Chief Executive Officer of CITIC Capital Holdings Limited joined the panel. They reviewed the industry policy development over the past year and communicated the tendency for the coming 2014.

Dialogue II was moderated by Roman SHAW, Managing Partner of DT Capital Partners. Richard GUO, Partner of Fangda Partners, Jennifer QIN, Partner of Deloitte, and Hugo SHONG, Founding Partner of IDG Capital Partners, discussed the new opportunities and prospects for investors in Shanghai pilot free trade zone.

Duane KUANG, Founding Managing Partner of Qiming Venture Partners moderated the dialogue III. The panelists include David DING, Managing Director and Partner of Cowin Group, George SUN, CEO of CMK Capita, and Paul YANG, President & CEO of China Development Financial Holdings. Their discussions were focused on the new investment opportunities and alternative exit channel options in China currently.

The CVCA AGM & Forum was hosted by Chang SUN, Executive Vice-Chairman of CVCA/ Chairman of North Asia of Warburg Pincus Asia LLC.

At the subsequent dinner party, CVCA awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award to Patrick J. McGovern, Founder and Chairman of International Data Group, to recognize his professional contributions and long-term commitment to the industry.

The keynote speeches of the dinner party by Wensheng WANG, Chairman of SUNSEA Telecommunications Co., Ltd, and Yafei XIAO, Director General of Office of Financial Development Service, Shenzhen Municipality, were followed by a dialogue among Andrew Y. YAN, Managing Partner of SAIF Partners, William PENG, Executive Director of Warburg Pincus, and Jinbo YAO, Founder and CEO of 58.com Inc. They shared the impressive stories between investors and entrepreneurs with all the participants.

In addition, CVCA hosted an LP/GP roundtable on the morning of November 28. At the roundtable meeting, CVCA governors communicated with senior professionals from international and domestic LPs and GPs about the LPs' criteria on GP selection; how to build up mutual trust in the cooperation between LPs and GPs; the incentive mechanism and corporate governance, etc.

CVCA AGM is an annual closed-door, member-only event where CVCA members and guests exchange views on issues and trend of common interest in an interactive, focused and foot on the ground manner.
