The 3rd China Equity Funds Annual Conference 2010

The Third Annual China Private Equity Conference, jointly launched by CVCA and Tianjin Private Equity Association, was successfully held on June 10th. As the parallel forum of the Fourth CIPEF, this symposium attracted more than 300 attendees including policy makers, senior professionals and experts from home and abroad. They met in Tianjin to canvass opinion on hot issues such as economic transition, policies on PE, RMB fund and LP. In short, the conference was a great success and all participants had a splendid time.

The Municipal Standing Committee member, Deputy Mayor Cui Jindu gave a wonderful speech for the opening of the conference. Afterwards, the event took off with several speeches given by government leaders including the President of the National Council Social Security Fund; Dai Xianglong, the Deputy Director of the Secretary of Finance in National Development and Reform Commission; Cao Wenlian and the Deputy Director of the Department of Capital Project Administration under the State Administration of Foreign Exchange; Sun Lujun. President Dai Xianglong fully affirmed the important role CVCA has played as the platform in the China’s VC/PE industry in his keynote speech.

There were three sessions in this conference following the themes of "The Cultivation of the LP Group", "The Opportunities and Challenges of Development of RMB Fund" and "The Way to Success of Equity Investment and Fund Investment in the Era of Economic Transition". The participants discussed significant issues like: how to develop and improve the domestic institutional LP group; how to strengthen the cooperation and communication between the international LPs and domestic LPs; the relationship between LPs and GPs; the advantages and disadvantages of USD fund and RMB fund in China; the motivation of the RMB fund fever and its difficulties and challenges; the investment opportunities and business model of VC/PE in the new period, and so on.

The guest speakers in the forum were all elites in the VC/PE industry, including: Mr. Yichen Zhang, the Chairman of CVCA Board of Governors and CEO of CITIC Capital Holdings Limited; Other governors of CVCA Board like Mr. Shangzhi WU, Chairman of CDH China Management Company; Mr. Hugo Shong, the Funding Partner of IDG Capital Partners; Mr. Fumin Zhuo, Executive Partner of GGV Capital; Mr. Duane Kuang, the Managing Director of Qiming Venture Partners; Mr. Frank Tang, CEO and Managing Partner of Fountain Vest Partners, etc. The speakers’ lectures were practical and engaging and well-received by the capacity crowd at the conference.
