CVCA Mission to Chengdu and Chongqing

In keeping with southwestern China's increasing economic development and capital flow, and after taking into consideration the significant role Chongqing and Chengdu will play in this, CVCA sent a Study Mission of over thirty people to visit relevant government departments and high-performing enterprises in the two cities.

The highlight of the visit was an informative discussion with Chongqing mayor Huang Qifan, Chengdu deputy mayor Sun Ping and other supervisors of governmental agencies: Financial Offices, SASAC, Investment Promotion Agency and Commercial Bureau in those two cities. Besides this, the Study Mission arranged networking activities with local government guiding funds and high quality representational enterprises showing great growth potential in the high-tech industrial development zones.

This Study Mission was led by Mr. Yichen Zhang, the Chairman of the CVCA Board of Governors, and the CEO of CITIC Capital Holdings Ltd. The joint head of the delegation was Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Partner, Miss Qinyi, with Mr. Roman Shaw, the governor of CVCA and the Managing Partner of DT Capital Partners as deputy head of mission. Delegation members consisted of senior executives of CVCA member firms, mainly well-known foreign and domestic investing institutions, including Bain Capital, Qiming Venture Partners, GGV Capital, Fountain Vest Partners, Legend Holdings Ltd, etc.

Chongqing and Chengdu were the second stop on the CVCA study mission itinerary, begun in Kunming, and the Mission was accorded a warm welcome by local government agencies and enterprises.

Members of the delegation found the visit very rewarding as they were able to look in details at the advantages, environment and prospects for investment in Chongqing and Chengdu in addition to building close relationships with all those they met.  Moreover, local enterprises in Chongqing and Chengdu's High-tech Zones welcomed the opportunity to impress the delegation with their technological and geographical advantages.  Overall, it was a very successful visit for all involved.
