Chang Sun

Mr. Sun is Managing Partner of  TPG China and the founder and Chairman of Black Soil Group Ltd., an  agriculture investment and operating company. Prior to Black Soil, he  was the Chairman, Asia Pacific at Warburg Pincus, a global private  equity firm, from 1995 to 2015. Mr. Sun was an Executive Director at  Goldman Sachs Asia in Hong Kong from 1992 to 1995, and an investment  banking associate at Lepercq de Neuflize &Co., a boutique investment  firm in New York from 1989 to 1992.

Mr. Sun obtained his Bachelor of  Arts degree from the Beijing Foreign Studies University and completed a  post-graduate international affairs program offered by the United  Nations, where he subsequently worked as a staff translator in New York  for 3 years.Mr. Sun earned a joint degree of MA/MBA from the Joseph  Lauder Institute of International Management and the Wharton School of  the University of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Sun is the Chairman of the  China Venture Capital and Private Equity Association, which he founded  in 2002, and Executive Vice Chairman the China Real Estate Developers  and Investors’ Association, which he founded in 2006. He is currently an  Independent Director of SOHO China and GDS.He is also a member of the  Asia Executive Board of the Wharton School and a member of the Asia  Pacific Council of the Nature Conservancy.
