Mr. Erfei LIU

Founding Partner, Chairman and CEO Asia Investment Capital Limited

In November 2017, Mr. Erfei Liu served as Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Asia Investment Fund L.P., the Founding partner, Chairman and CEO of the Asia Investment Capital Limited. Prior to establishing the AIC Group, he served as the Chairman of China for Bank of America Merrill Lynch, responsible for investment banking, commercial banking and equity investment, and established the Asia Pacific China business platform for Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs,Salomon Smith Barney and Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

The Asian Investment Fund L.P., established in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, is a private equity investment fund initiated by the Ministry of Finance of the People's Republic of China and jointly funded by other domestic and foreign qualified institutional investors. The Fund's target commitment scale of the initial phase is US$3.0 billion from qualified investors. With the principle of “Based in China, Facing Asia, and Looking to the World”, it promotes regional economic development, interconnection, sharing and integration, insisting on marketization, internationalization, and professional operation, in order to create a stable and rich return on investment for investors.

Mr. Liu’s work experience spans the inside and outside of the AIIB, including China, the United States, Southeast Asia, India, and Taiwan, with projects’ performances spread over more than ten regions at home and abroad. He has presided over IPO projects of ICBC, CNOOC, China Mobile, China Telecom, Shenhua Energy and China Communications Construction, and hosted Lenovo's acquisition of IBM's personal computer business, CNOOC's acquisition of Indonesia and Australia's oil business, and China Mobile's acquisition of Pakistan's mobile business. Mr. Liu has received honors such as the Annual Financial Figures in the Asia Pacific region, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Beijing Foreign Studies University and an MBA degree from Harvard Business School.
